About Me

My background

I bring more than ten years of experience across enterprise software, online games, developer infrastructure, and design (web and creative, character work, and interactive product UX). The Arathyll site is one example: I designed and built this interactive nexus myself.

At Datto, I spent five years building and maintaining revenue-critical financial systems. I resolved long-standing defects in legacy billing code, engineered multithreaded Windows services and Zuora/Salesforce middleware that automated financial workflows, and shipped internal platforms that removed hundreds of manual hours from weekly operations. I architected a financial data warehouse for predictive revenue reporting ahead of IPO, designed an asynchronous DNS record system for internal applications, modernized database provisioning into an MVC web service, integrated Okta SSO into sensitive infrastructure, and managed a customer invoice portal. Along the way I mentored engineering interns on work that mattered to day-to-day operations.

At Wolfjaw Studios, I spent more than four years as Senior Software Engineer and project lead on AAA backend infrastructure. I helped architect systems supporting very large concurrent player counts and millions of player records, including in-game currency and inventory services, distributed caching, and dynamically scaled AWS EC2 fleets. I built CI/CD from the ground up, rewrote legacy microservice HTTP layers, and improved production diagnostics through custom Datadog enrichment. I collaborated with AAA clients such as 2K and Bungie and shipped multiple titles and features under real production pressure.

Why I build

I still remember the first time a digital world came alive on a screen. Games taught me early that persistence matters; I have been chasing that feeling ever since.

My path runs through network field work, infrastructure, and full-stack engineering, then into billing, provisioning, and DNS platforms when Datto acquired our team. Mentoring engineers there was a highlight. Eventually I wanted to build closer to the games I loved, which pulled me toward studio work and, eventually, Arathyll.

I am happiest when I am learning something new and shipping it for real users. I have worked on legacy codebases and greenfield systems, frontend and backend, visual and interaction design, personal projects and production services. I have mentored engineers, run designs and code reviews, and learned to give and receive feedback without ego getting in the way. (Red Mage energy: a little bit of everything, applied where it helps.)
